Questions:
There may be some of you that have some questions concerning what Competitive teams are all about, so below are the most frequently asked questions:
What is the difference between a Competitive team and Recreational Team?
Competitive teams are going to be playing other teams with higher skills than recreational teams. This is a good way to challenge your child if you feel that he/she might be need a challenge. Also our Competitive Team Coaches have acquired higher training to be able to coach your child.
Can my Child play on both a Competitive team and a Recreational Team?
Because of the Competitive Team schedule, it will coincide with the recreational teams schedule, so if you decide to join the competitive team, we encourage you to not participate in the Fall Season. The schedule in the spring allows more flexibility.
Where are the games played?
There are a total of 10 games that are played throughout the Competitive season, half of the games will be played on the Lake Wales Soccer Fields. Your team will travel to other cities to play the other half of the games. The city could be as close as Winter Haven, Lakeland or Auburndale, or it could be as far as Land o Lakes, Tampa, Clearwater, or Naples. This would all be determined when the schedules are created by the United Soccer Association.
When are the games played?
All of the games will be on either a Saturday or a Sunday.
What is the price for joining the Competitive team and what all does it included?
The fee for the competitive season is $400 per player. The fees will cover all the registration fees with the Lake Wales League, FYSA, and the United Soccer Association. It will also cover the 2 Jerseys, one pair of shorts, and socks for your child uniform, the referee fees and any equipment that your coach will need for their team. Lastly, it will ONLY be for the 10 Games that your team will play during the season. If your team decides that they want to play in a tournament that is going on in any particular week, it will be up to your coach and team to pay for those additional fees.
When is the money due?
After tryouts, if your child is selected to be on the team, a non-refundable $100 deposit is required to hold your child’s spot on the roster. The remaining $300 will be required by July 1. If you need to set up a payment plan for the remaining $300, please speak with Vince in private before June 15.
When will practice be held?
Practices will be determined by your coaches
Parents, joining a competitive team is not a decision that should be taken lightly. There is definitely a HIGHER commitment to joining the team, not only financially, but also ensuring that your child is present to all the games. If you think Competitive Soccer is right for you and your child, we encourage you to try out.
